How do I enroll in the program?
Getting involved in our recycling program is simple. Just start collecting empty cartridges. Once you accumulate at least 30 empties you can contact us for prepaid labels. Here’s how:

Once we receive your first shipment of empty cartridges, you will officially be entered into our program.
Who can participate?
Although our program is geared toward public schools, any individual or organization who wants to raise funds may participate in our program. Some of the groups currently involved in the program are:
- Individuals
- Public and Private Schools
- School-related Clubs and Organizations
- Non-profit Organizations
- 4-H clubs
- Girl and Boy Scout Troops
- Church Groups
- Animal Rescue Groups
Any shipments we receive from individuals or companies that are in our industry will be checked thoroughly and circuit testing will be completed.
What cartridges do you accept?
The only kind of empty cartridges that we accept are those that accommodate a computer printer. These cartridges must be once-used virgin OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) genuine empties. Our program does not accept any empty cartridges that have been previously recycled, except for a few varieties of Inkjet Cartridges. We also do not accept generic or “off” brands.
The best way to determine if an empty cartridge is a virgin genuine OEM empty is to look at the sticker on the cartridge. It must have the original manufacturer’s label and logo on it (such as HP, Lexmark or Dell). Cartridges that state “are compatible with” or “for use in” are recycled/refilled. If it has a Staples, Corporate Express or Rhinotek label that means it has already been recycled and is considered worthless.

How Do I Get Pre-Paid Labels?

How much will I be paid for my empty cartridges?
Inkjets for Education will pay between $0.05 and $3.50 for each empty inkjet cartridge (on average approximately $1.00 – $1.50 each), and up to $12.00 for each empty toner cartridge. Since the value of both Inkjet and Toner cartridges are sensitive to market fluctuations, we do update our buyback list on a regular basis. When market changes occur we will make the appropriate updates on our website. Be sure to check our website and print our most current buyback prices before shipping your cartridges. We will also make every attempt to price-match another company’s buyback pricing when possible.
When will I be paid for my cartridges?
Payments are made by check within 3-14 business days after we receive your shipment. Please keep in mind that it can take between one to five days for us to receive your boxes, depending where you are located. We cut checks on the first and third week of every month.
